Marlies began her travel industry career at several prominent international airlines and hotels: Lufthansa, Air France, Orient Express Hotels, The Ritz Paris and some of the leading travel suppliers in the industry.

In 2006 Marlies was featured in US News & World Report as a Baby Boomer who reinvented herself after the travel industry took a hit after the unfortunate events of September 11. Hence the establishment of Travels with Marlies.
